VOLUNTEER CODE OF CONDUCT

At Compassion Ministries Ltd., we strive to create a safe, respectful, and empowering environment for both our volunteers and the individuals we serve. As a volunteer, it is essential that you understand and adhere to the following guidelines to ensure a positive experience for everyone involved.

1. Professionalism and Respect

  • Volunteers are expected to conduct themselves in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner at all times when interacting with residents, staff, other volunteers, and community members.

  • Treat all individuals with dignity, respect, and compassion. Acknowledge that the young mothers we serve may have experienced significant trauma, and approach them with understanding and patience.

2. Boundaries and Physical Contact

  • Respect personal boundaries and avoid any form of inappropriate physical contact. Be aware that some residents may have experienced abuse and may not be comfortable with physical touch.

  • Always ask permission before initiating any form of physical contact (such as hugs or handshakes), and respect the resident's answer.

3. Confidentiality and Privacy

  • Volunteers are expected to maintain confidentiality at all times. Do not discuss sensitive information about residents, other volunteers, or staff outside of approved contexts.

  • Respect the privacy of residents and other volunteers. Any personal information shared with you in the course of your volunteer work must be kept confidential, unless required by law or directed by staff.
